“The nature of substance carrying the name of Angelmaker may shine more light on the case”

Recently, two different concoctions have given rise to colloquially carry this name.
One possibility is the poison known better as arsenic, which will at once result in death when used in high dosage.
The second option is a strong anti-histeriac to soothe intense emotions in women; flights of anguish, aggression and even undesirable passions can be subdued to a numbness.
To determine which of these was found on the grounds of Circus Maester, one must use the following method:

• Three fourths of water is to be added to the residual powder: beware to use neutral water with as little additives as possible
• The residue is to blend fully with the water, when necessary one can shake the liquid delicately
• Any discolouration of the water indicates the presence of a chemical compound. In order to determine which type of chemical is involved, we need to look carefully at the different shades of the liquid

When upon mixing with the water, the compound should assume a blue colour – be it light or dark – we know we are dealing with either arsenic or anti-histeria and can rule out other chemicals.
To determine which of these two we are dealing with, one should simply expose the liquid to carbon monoxide. This can be done by blowing carefully into the liquid through a narrow tube – our own lung capacity should be enough to start the chemical process.
When the liquid starts to turn a mixture of red and white, culminating in a bright pink, we can rule out arsenic.
If the liquid however changes from blue to green, this indicates the presence of arsenic.
When there is doubt about the hue, adding more neutral water may alleviate ambiguity.
